1989-2002 Cummins to Ford 7.3 diesel ZF-5 speed adapter plate- uses Ford 6.0 starter
Engine: 1989-2002 Cummins Transmission: 1987-1997 Ford 7.3L Diesel ZF-5 speed
The kit includes instructions for the adapter kit only, the engine to transmission adapter, and bolts.
This is a high quality kit from Diesel Conversion Specialists – made in the USA. They are leaders in components for the Fummins ( Ford / Cummins) conversion market to ensure quality products for your build.
Adapter plates are built out of aircraft grade (6061) aluminium. This adapter replaces the existing adapter on the Cummins Engine, making a factory quality connection between the engine and the Ford transmission.
Supporting parts you need- or may already have- that are not included in this kit are: – Flywheel- Ford 6.0L diesel starter – Clutch – NO grinding is necessary on the transmission bell housing for starter clearance! – Minimal and insignificant grinding of the Cummins adapter plate bolt bosses may be required, but this does not ruin the Cummins engine block core value. – We recommend using the South Bend 13″ Ford 7.3L 5-speed clutch and custom flywheel we offer. This flywheel already has a ball bearing style pilot bearing installed. The best way to identify if you have a gasoline version of the ZF5 is the .5″ dowels on the bellhousing. The dowel pins are also staggered, the driver’s side being higher up on the bellhousing than the passenger side. The diesel version uses .375″ dowel and are directly across from one another.
